Why Making Good Money Writing As a Career Is Not Actually That Difficult
People are always looking for the next ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme. If you want to make a living as a freelance writer online then you should know from the offset that writing as a career is no way to get rich quick.
But that doesn’t mean that you can’t still get rich from it.
OK, we may have different ideas about getting rich. For me, rich involves a job that I love, earning enough to live happy, pay my mortgage and save some money up for a rainy day. Essentially, to live the life that I have always wanted to live.
But the thing about writing for a living is that you can essentially earn as much as you want to – as long as you put your mind to it.
Why You Don’t Just have to Write for Love
We all have this idea of the poverty-stricken writer living off bread and soup but struggling on for the love of the craft. But this has nothing to do with the reality of the job.
Forget about writing just for the love of it. Writing from home is a real business opportunity where you get out exactly what you put in. If you’re willing to work for your money then you can easily start earning well in a short space of time.
How much? $150 a day at a minimum. Easily. If you work a bit harder then $250, which is also easily achievable. And if you want to then you can put in extra hours and earn even more. Personally, I average $150 to $200 a day, which is plenty for me to get by on.
How to Start Earning Good Money as a Writer
If you are just starting out as a writer and you want to start earning good money from the offset then SEO content is the way to go. For me at least, it’s been fantastic. Why? Because it’s easy (if you can write an article to this standard then you can make money from it), it’s well paid (I charge $25 for a 400-word basic article, but a lot of people charge a lot more), and there is LOADS of work out there.
The reason there is so much work is because everyone needs content. There is a perfect opportunity to tap into this opportunity and start charging for writing simple articles that can take you half an hour to write in some cases.
And you don’t have to just focus on this type of writing. For me, it’s the basic and regular money that I can pull in on a monthly basis. But I also spend my time on my own websites, writing other marketing and sales material and even some fiction projects for fun. As long as you can find that regular stream of work to keep you going then you can develop your own workload to suit yourself
The Quick Way to Earn
Although writing for a living is not a get-rich-quick scheme, you can certainly start earning very quickly and with very little investment. It’s common industry practice to charge 50% of the fee up front, so as soon as you find your first client you can see money in your bank. Arrange for payment by PayPal and the transfer is instant.
If You Work Hard You can Earn Real Money
Earning money – real, honest money – will always involve hard work. But if you are prepared to work then you can earn a decent amount of money from home in one of the easiest ways possible.
For me, I like working hard because I know that it pays off. I work hard in the day and I know that I will always earn enough to cover my bills and have a bit of fun on the side. You don’t have to work as hard as I do. You can work for a few hours a day and still earn a good part-time wage. It’s this flexibility that makes this job such an attractive way to make money.
Find Your Own Clients and Start Earning More
Don’t mess about picking up the scraps of work on bidding sites and job boards. Instead, go straight for your own clients. Go searching for them and find them before they advertise for work. Offer your services as a freelance SEO writer and after a while the work will come.
You might not get rich quick when you choose writing as a career, but you can certainly do well for yourself if you’re prepared to work a bit in return. Of course, you’ll only find that out once you try it for yourself.
